Benny the Dreamer 2020 preorders

Hello everyone!

So much has happened in such a short time. We hope you and your family are doing well and are safe. Here in Sherwood Park, Canada in Okedoki Studio we have been busy working away on many projects. Finally we can unveil a long awaited project Benny the Dreamer 2020. This particular project has been many years in the works and we couldn’t be more happy with the results so far.

Benny the Dreamer 2020 celebrates a year all of us will never forget. It has tested every fibre in our social and collective consciousness. As the year is coming to a close, and as I am typing this after the US election, perhaps we will see some much needed light and positivity around the corner.

Benny the Dreamer was first created in 2010 while I was going through my cancer treatment. I wanted to leave something in the world that embodied joy and innocence. Benny the Dreamer was that embodiment as I sculpted him using super sculpey and worked with Vince Su of VTSS of Taiwan to bring that dream to life. Benny the Dreamer in 2011 was a Finalist in Toy of the Year from the Designer Toy Awards, which Vince and I were more than humbled and honoured by.

Now, after a decade of learning and creating Benny the Dreamer in his many incarnations, we are releasing the original Benny the Dreamer, completely handmade and hand painted in our little Sherwood Park studio. We have taken all that we learned in the last 10 years from rotocasting, 3D modeling, mold making, casting, wood working to painting and utilized it in this particular project. We hope you enjoy the latest incarnation of Benny the Dreamer in his sitting pose with his eyes closed, day dreaming away…

Big shout out to my crew for making this all happen. You are all amazing!

Mr White Walls

It was very nice meeting Jordan, the owner of Nothing But Tires located in Edmonton. He started his business from humble beginnings and grew it into a very thriving business with many happy employees and customers. We had a tour of the facility and you can tell there was such a great atmosphere and pride in their work, so we were more than honoured to make a mascot for them.

We created Mr White Walls to embody the drive of Nothing But Tires to provide excellent care for their customers, while capturing the whimsical and retro feel of a tire shop. We used their colours of orange and black as the dominate colours and gave him a classic wooden base with Nothing But Tires logo. I had help on this project from Harley, who has become our 3D specialist. We printed the figure in abs and Harley has done a great job sanding and smoothing it using acetone vapour. Rosemary did a fantastic job with the painting as she always does, while Jake helped with the wooden base. It was a real team effort on this project, so I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome.

We really enjoyed this project and we hope this is the first of many mascot figurines to come in the future. :)

Life Size Benny the Dreamer

Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of updates. It has been some crazy times. I hope you and your family are doing well.

During the covid break I managed to finish up some projects which were long overdue in the pipeline. Many thanks to the collectors for being so patient!!!

Below is a life size Benny the Dreamer. This is a slightly smaller size than the fibreglass figure produced by Toy Art Gallery and VTSS Toys from 2012. This particular one is an edition of only 1, made of epoxy resin and is all hand painted and with a different face as requested by the collector. He turned out pretty awesome and I couldn’t be happier finally having him home with the collector.

Dreamer Mouse update

Hello everyone. I hope you and your family are doing well during this outbreak of Covid-19.

I wanted to thank everyone again for supporting the Dreamer Mouse project. We are ready to ship out our first batch. Thank you for being so very patient as your support in each project allows us to keep creating art.

Here are some photos below. As you can see we did our very best to ensure we meet high standards and also to bring something extra, we will include a special limited collector’s card with each order.

2020 will be a year no one will ever forget, but it can be remembered for how we came together and supported and care for each other. I hope this positive and loving spirit is embodied in Dreamer Mouse, so even though he was created during a pandemic, something beautiful and loving can come out of it.

I would also like to thank Rose, Harley, Sarah, Izzy and Jake. Thank you for putting your time and energy into the studio and making it what it is. Your hard work and enthusiasm is much appreciated.

I wish you all the best and many blessings your way.
